How Is a 200 Hour Vira Bhava Yoga Training Different?

In Vira Bhava Yoga 200 Hour Teacher Trainings, we teach you MORE than how to lead a good Yoga class. We teach you HOW to teach Yoga, not simply lead others through it. We teach you how to offer the experience of Yoga in all aspects of your life and practice. What we offer is similar to many other 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Trainings, but HOW we do it is very different.

Asana

The physical practice of Yoga is an essential component of our Yoga Trainings. We explore 45 foundational asanas in depth, providing knowledge and experience that can be applied to hundreds of more complex poses.

At Vira Bhava Yoga we teach asana as:

  • a gateway to the deeper practices and experiences of Yoga.

  • a way to shape and move vital energy

  • a skillful practice designed to be impactful by being meaningful

Included in our asana education are:

  • principles of sequencing with wisdom

  • focus on safety and accessibility

  • tools to modify and assist the physical practice

  • anatomy & physiology

  • exposure to multiple styles of yoga and their approach to asana

Philosophy

Vira Bhava Yoga regards Yoga as a practice based in systems of ancient philosophies that provide the foundational understanding of the power and purpose of the physical practice.  We do not believe that yoga is a religion, but instead use the historical philosophies to create context, understanding, and support to our exploration. At Vira Bhava Yoga, we look at all Yogic philosophy through a Tantric lens.

In the 200 Hour program, we study the following philosophical approaches:

  • Sri Vidya Tantra

  • The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali

  • The Bhagavad Gita

Energetics

The primary approach to all aspects of Yoga at Vira Bhava Yoga is an energetic one.  We understand the entire universe to be a composite of vibrating molecules of energy.  In our explorations of the practice, we seek to understand how to work with this knowledge in a full spectrum way.  Using this foundational awareness, we will learn not only HOW to do Yoga but also WHY we do it, and WHAT we can do to enhance not only the physical practice of yoga but also to practice in a way that has an impact on our entire lives.

In a Vira Bhava Yoga training, we will explore energetics in these ways:

  • the study and practice of Pranayama

  • the study and practice of Meditation

  • the discovery and refinement of your Voice as a teacher

  • using your practice to meet your (and your students') unique needs

  • wise sequencing of a Yoga practice

  • the practice of self reflection

  • using the practice of asana to shape and move vital life force

  • making your practice purposeful and impactful

Community

The experience of Yoga Training is a deep and connective process.  As a part of Vira Bhava Yoga Training, you will be practicing, learning, and reflecting alongside a group of people who are on a similar journey.  You will be sharing your experiences, and listening and sharing in the experiences of others.  You will be working together through your challenges and your triumphs, ad finding common ground in your unique and individual experiences.  The associations you make in Yoga Training will often become lifelong friendships.

The beautiful space in which you share your experiences and the mentors that guide and support you will be the foundation on which you stand throughout your process. After six months of a collective journey, the group of people on the path with you will begin to feel like a special kind of family.  Our students and graduates continue to reflect that even in our Online container, the connections are profound. In Yoga Training, we begin as a "me," and through our common exploration and our shared process, you will become a "we."

Experience

One of the primary purposes of a Vira Bhava Yoga training is to provide an opportunity for you to move your experience of Yoga into every aspect of your life.  Rather than "retreating" from your life and immersing yourself in a practice that leaves you feeling transformed but confused as to how to apply your lessons into your day-to-day life, we seek to teach you how to INTEGRATE your practice, your emerging Voice, your desire to share your discoveries with others, and your personal transformative experience into the life that you live off your yoga mat.  Yoga is a beautiful practice that can take us to the heart of yourself, BUT, what you do on your mat is just a fraction of what yoga is about.  At Vira Bhava Yoga we teach you how to integrate Yoga in all aspects of your life.

You will get direct experience in teaching principles and Yoga in your life in these ways:

  • Direct experience of practices and philosophies in your YT weekends

  • Highest Quality Mentors that "have been there!!"

  • Practice teaching within the YT weekends

  • Homework & Assignments that encourages you to integrate your Yoga into your life experience.

  • Time between session to INTEGRATE these teachings into your WHOLE LIFE.
